If you buy an Index kit you will need the one with the blue logo indicating 2.0 support that Index uses. The other one only works with HTC base stations. If you have those, they are also compatible with Index though. If you are confused, just know that the blue one is compatible regardless of what else you have.

That's not to say the Index is trash or that nobody should buy it. There will always be a high-end market and I respect Valve for pushing the boundaries in that direction. With that said, Oculus is pushing the boundaries in terms of accessibility. If Oculus succeeds, it will attract more dev's to build VR experiences.

Many people used that to buy games, and Valve while obviosly accidently shooting in their own foot, stayed totally cool about that. Obviosly buying something physical from that would directly impact them financially, while digital stuff doesn't (that much). Some peope actually bought a Index of that so could be that this is the fuzz. (iirc)

If you Valve Index controllers, beware of the "Index Compatible" tag on Steam. That tag is used to mark the headset as compatible but does not tell you if the controller mappings are usable in any way.
